Job Description

Ledgent is hiring! We are seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant for a valued client. This role is responsible for overseeing activities tied to capital asset accounting to ensure accurate reporting within the organization's financial statements. The position includes validating and reconciling the Fixed Asset module with the general ledger, investigating discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions. Key responsibilities:

  • Review capital transactions, determine capitalization, and classify assets correctly.
  • Process fixed asset additions, disposals, retirements, depreciation, and system transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, GASB updates, and required disclosures.
  • Reconcile FA activity to the general ledger and research monthly variances.
  • Prepare capital asset schedules, journal entries, and specialized bank reconciliations.
  • Support construction project analysis and inventory reconciliations.
  • Test system updates and provide general financial analysis support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, meet deadlines, and maintain high accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 4+ years of experience working with capital asset management including existing and in-process construction assets, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in construction accounting or capital asset accounting environments strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in capital asset accounting, including work-in-progress tracking, project classification, and depreciation methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficiency in handling complex financial data and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under time-sensitive conditions.
